Who Can Benefit from Sedation Dentistry?

Many people delay or skip dental appointments due to fear, past trauma, or a sensitive gag reflex.
If you feel anxious in the dental chair, have trouble getting numb, or require extensive dental work, sedation may be right for you.

We consider several factors during your initial consultation, including:

  • Your medical history and any other medications you’re taking
  • The type of procedure
  • Your level of anxiety
  • How long your treatment may take
  • Whether you have dental trauma, a low pain threshold, or trouble staying still

Our licensed team monitors your vital signs during sedation to ensure your safety and comfort at every stage.

Types & Levels of Sedation Available

At Dental Team FL, we offer two forms of sedation — Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) and Light Oral Sedation.
Both are designed to help you stay relaxed and comfortable without being “put to sleep.”

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a light sedative delivered
via a soft nose mask. It helps patients feel relaxed, often within minutes.

  • Safe for adults and pediatric dentistry
  • Wears off quickly
  • You can usually drive yourself home after the procedure

Some patients may feel tingling or floating sensations, but side effects
are minimal.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Light Oral Sedation

Oral sedation is taken in pill form before your appointment. It helps reduce anxiety and allows for longer procedures. You’ll remain awake but calm and drowsy.

  • Ideal for patients with dental fear or a strong gag reflex
  • Keeps you conscious and responsive
  • You’ll need someone to drive you home after your visit

Safety & Monitoring

Sedation is always delivered and supervised by trained professionals in a licensed dental office setting. We monitor your blood pressure, oxygen, and other vital signs throughout the procedure, ensuring safety and precision.

We also use local anesthesia or local anesthetic with most forms of sedation for optimal comfort and numbing of the teeth and gums.
